We met the owner, Terry and learned all about her dad who was known as the Rib King by everyone in the city. It's the brainchild of husband and wife that are the heir of the @jackdaniels_us and Southern Comfort fortune, they started the concept of creating stylish accommodations mixed with contemporary art as a way to revitalize towns that are in need of a boost of beauty. The guest rooms are contemporary and elegant. The bed is probably the most comfortable one I have slept in all year--and I get around. The bathroom is beautiful and modern and the fact that they have Malin and Goetz products is just the cherry on top. I'm also obsessed with the little details. The robes, chairs, light fixtures and of course these cool pillows. I love the donkey. And there is art everywhere from the curtains to the tiles in the bathroom. Even if you’re not staying overnight, stop by and take a look around. The galleries are free and open to the public. More on the art later though... While prices may be high for Cincinnati, for those of us coming from New York, room rates on the weekend aren't much higher than $209 (higher during the week). Amazing place for an affordable luxury weekend. Direct flights from NYC are only 1.5 hours... @travelpanties: "My first stop today in #cincinnati was Metropole at 21c Hotel where I am a guest. The food was delicious, I loved my burnt carrot salad--LOVED. And I ate most of my dad's brisket sandwich. What? I was starving. The entire hotel is filled with contemporary art (but more on that later). I am obsessed with the little penguins they have all over the hotel. I am all about the little things. Employees wear little penguin pins. Swoon. I highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee. Oh and ps their burger was voted as one of the best in the region--and that's not even their specialty. @travelpanties: "Yesterday we headed to Bagatelle for my birthday brunch. This classic establishment in the meatpacking is notorious for its party-riffic boozy brunches so I had to check it out before I got too old. The party doesn't get started until 2 when the twenty-somethings wake up and start taking shots. While it's beautiful here (all white with very fun artwork), the food is bordering on bad, but I'll say mediocre. Nothing came out hot and both the fries and patatas bravas were mehhh. Drinks start at $17, though they at least pack a punch. This giant fishbowl will set you back $185. Happy birthday! @bagatellenyc"
